A complete workflow application for UAV solar cleaning

SOLAR PANEL CLEANING NOW HAS ITS OWN DEDICATED ALTACORO APP!

We are continuing to expand the Altacoro OS ecosystem with our newest module: Solar Path — a complete edge-computing solution for solar panel cleaning route generation.

As the UK solar sector expands, the demand for automated drone cleaning (using platforms like the DJI Agras) is growing. However, manually mapping flight lines over MW-scale solar parks is inefficient, often resulting in wasted cleaning fluid over empty ground and excessive battery consumption.

Solar Path eliminates this bottleneck. Designed specifically for drone cleaning operators, it allows users to plan precise missions using either satellite or drone imagery, entirely offline.

Today we are demonstrating its capabilities using data from the Hope Solar Farm in Cornwall, UK (satellite imagery courtesy of Esri).

Key capabilities of the Solar Path application:

• Dual Data Sources: Plan missions using either publicly available satellite imagery (by simply searching for the farm name) or by loading fresh raw drone images directly via USB. This ensures functionality whether the farm is already mapped or newly constructed.

• Automated Panel Detection: Instead of manual polygon drawing, the system runs a local dedicated algorithm to extract solar panels from the surrounding terrain.

• Precision Flight Routing: The module calculates flight lines strictly over the detected panels. Operators input their specific hardware parameters: Working Width, Flight Height, Speed, Application Rate, Tank Capacity, and Battery Life.

• Instant Logistics: The interface immediately outputs critical mission stats, including exact fluid requirements, estimated flight time, and total distance.

• Direct-to-Controller Export: Zero cloud syncing required. The final DJI Agras route is exported as a KML file directly to a physical USB drive, ready to be plugged into the drone remote.
