The introduction to Altacoro platform and brief architecture overview

Welcome to the first issue of #AltacoroVision — a development blog tracking the engineering behind a new edge-computing ecosystem for UAV operators.

The main objective is the rapid, offline processing of drone imagery. Field operators analyze the data right on the spot. The immediate output is ready-to-use mission routes for agricultural tractors and working drones.

The system combines the #AltacoroScout rugged tablet and the custom #AltacoroOS. It provides rapid, offline processing of drone imagery. Field operators use it to generate immediate tasks for agricultural tractors or working drones right on the spot.

The architecture is based on three core pillars:
1️⃣ 100% Offline Processing: Local orthophotogrammetry and AI guided computer vision directly on the device.
2️⃣ Rugged Hardware: Engineered to prevent thermal throttling and system crashes under direct sunlight and pouring rain.
3️⃣ Glove-Friendly UI: Oversized touch targets and high-contrast layouts designed specifically for gloved, wet, or muddy hands.

DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
This week, the core operating environment and main launcher for #AltacoroOS were finalized. The main interface acts as the central hub for field operations. It features a tactile, tile-based navigation system. This layout allows operators to instantly select specific mission apps while wearing gloves.
